MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) All MRI Procedures: • Notify staff if you have a pacemaker, brain aneurysm clip, or metal anywhere in your body. • Creatinine & GFR needed for Diabetic or Renally Compromised patients requiring IV Contrast. • Wear comfortable clothing. • No jewelry, hairpins or make-up. MRCP: Do not eat or drink 4 hours prior to exam. MRI Enterography: Do not eat or drink anything after midnight or for at least 4 hours prior to the exam. You will be asked to arrive 90 minutes prior to your scan time.



CT (Cat Scan) All CT Procedures: • Creatinine & GFR needed for Diabetic or Renally Compromised patients requiring IV Contrast. • Wear comfortable clothing. CT Abdomen and or Pelvis: Clear liquids and all medications are permitted 4 hours prior to exam. Do not eat or drink 4 hours prior to exam. You will need to drink barium liquid at a specified time. Barium liquid will taste best cold and can be mixed with orange juice. • CT Abdomen Only: Drink 2 bottles of oral contrast liquid 1 hour prior to the exam • CT Abdomen and Pelvis: Drink 1 bottle of oral contrast liquid 2 hours prior to the scan, and another 1 hour prior to the exam. • CT Pelvis Only: Drink 2 bottles of oral contrast liquid 2 hours prior to the exam. CT Brain w/ IV contrast: Clear liquids and all medications are permitted 4 hours prior to exam. Do not eat or drink 4 hours prior to exam. CT Enterography: Clear liquids and all medications are permitted 4 hours prior to exam. Do not eat or drink 4 hours prior to exam. You will be asked to arrive 90 minutes prior to your scan time. CT Chest w/ IV contrast: Clear liquids and all medications are permitted 4 hours prior to exam. Do not eat or drink 4 hours prior to exam. CT Soft Tissue Neck w/ IV contrast: Clear liquids and all medications are permitted 4 hours prior to exam. Do not eat or drink 4 hours prior to exam. CT Soft Tissue Orbits w/ IV contrast: Clear liquids and all medications are permitted 4 hours prior to exam. Do not eat or drink 4 hours prior to exam.



Nuclear Medicine/Nuclear Cardiology Bone Scan: You will be asked to return for your scan 2-3 hours after your injection. Cardiac Imaging Stress Test (Nuclear): This is a 2-day study. Day 1, the resting baseline portion, eat normally. Day 2, the stress portion, eat a light meal 3-4 hours prior to the test. Discontinue caffeine and beta blockers the day before your test, unless otherwise instructed by your physician. Wear loose, comfortable clothing. Gastric Emptying: Do not eat or drink 8 hours prior to study. Hepatobilliary Scan (PIPIDA, HIDA, Gallbladder): Do not eat or drink anything 5 hours prior to appointment. Thyroid Scan w/ or w/o Uptake (I-123): Thyroid with uptake is a 2-day exam, without uptake is a 1-day exam. You will be asked to return to the center 3-5 hours after your initial appointment for the scan and then the following day if uptake is required. No thyroid medications, iodine treatments, CT or IVP dye 3-6 weeks prior to your appointment. Do not eat or drink anything at least 2 hours prior to the exam. Thyroid Therapy (I-131): Do Not eat or drink anything at least 2 HOURS PRIOR to the exam. A pregnancy test is required for patients of child bearing age 24-48 hours prior to your exam.



Fluoroscopy Barium Enema: Your physician will give you and order for Colyte, please follow specific instructions. Prep is required 24 hours prior to exam. Esophogram/Barium Swallow: Do not eat or drink 4 hours prior. IVP (Intravenous Pyelogram): Your physician will give you an order for Colyte, please follow specific instructions. Prep is required 24 hours prior to the exam. Upper GI: Do not eat or drink anything after midnight or for at least 6 hours prior to exam.



Ultrasound: Abdomen/Gallblader/Kidney/Aorta: Do Not eat anything after midnight or for at least 6 hours prior to the exam. Pelvic/OB: Drink 4, 8oz glasses of liquid 1 hour prior to appointment. Do not empty bladder. Bladder must be full for exam. Guided Injection/Aspiration/Biopsy: Stop blood thinners 5 days prior to your exam. PT, APPT & INR required day before procedure.



Biopsies: Thyroid:Patients on blood thinners are required to stop medications 5 days prior. PT, PTT, and INR are required prior to procedure.



Injections: Arthrogram: Patients on blood thinners are required to stop medications 5 days prior. PT, PTT, and INR are required prior to procedure. Please see above MRI prep for additional information.
